SRP Foundation Donates $10,000 to Support Local GED Program

North Augusta, SC – The SRP Foundation Board of Directors presented Christ Central Aiken and Graniteville with a $10,000 grant on Thursday, June 25, providing vital support for the organization’s Fast Track GED Program.

Established in 2011 to help adults earn their high school equivalency credential, Christ Central’s Fast Track GED Program provides preparation for General Educational Development (GED) tests. Christ Central offers the program at no cost to participants, alleviating the financial barriers that often prevent adults from returning to school.

Since its inception, the program has helped over 600 adults earn their high school equivalency credential.

“That number represents far more than diplomas,” said Roy Geiselhart, President of the Board of Directors for the SRP Foundation. “It represents individuals who chose not to give up, families whose futures were changed, and opportunities that may not have otherwise existed.”

The SRP Foundation, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, is governed by a board comprised of active and former SRP Federal Credit Union executives, leaders, and volunteers. Reflecting community initiatives within SRP Federal Credit Union, the Foundation is committed to uplifting education, housing, healthcare, and human services in the CSRA.

“The SRP Foundation views today’s contribution not simply as a donation, but as an investment in people and in the future of our communities. We are proud to partner with an organization that has demonstrated such a lasting and measurable impact,” said Geiselhart.

Linda Coffin, Fast Track GED Program coordinator at Christ Central Aiken and Graniteville, said the funds will help support a variety of needs within the program.

“Thank you for trusting Christ Central with helping to further the education of adults in the CSRA,” said Coffin to the SRP Foundation. “Your grant will allow us to purchase GED books, calculators, practice tests and actual final tests for many students in our area. We’ll even be able to have snacks on hand for those who come straight from work to our tutoring sessions. I was proud to be a member of SRPFCU and see my institution care about changing the path for people who have gotten off track. Our students’ futures look brighter because of your involvement.”
