SRP Chief Development Officer Shana Reid Honored with North Augusta Chamber’s 2026 Woman Who EmpowHers Award

North Augusta, SC – A leader known for lifting others up is now getting a well-deserved moment in the spotlight. SRP Federal Credit Union is proud to celebrate Chief Development Officer Shana Reid, who was named the 2026 Woman Who EmpowHers Award recipient by the North Augusta Chamber of Commerce during its Women in Business EmpowHer Showcase on Sept. 29.

 

Selected from nine nominees, Reid was recognized for her exceptional leadership, commitment to creating opportunities for others, and dedication to supporting the professional growth and development of those around her.

 

As Chief Development Officer, Reid provides strategic leadership for SRP Federal Credit Union’s Community Impact, Consumer Growth, Human Resources, Learning and Development, and Marketing and Communications departments: all areas that collectively influence SRP’s people, culture, and connection to the communities it serves.

 

At the heart of Reid’s leadership is a deeply personal investment in people. She is known for recognizing potential, creating opportunities for growth and taking the time to understand the people behind the roles they hold. One example is her annual Coffee and Convo tradition, during which she meets one-on-one with team members at every level across the departments she leads to learn more about their goals, challenges, and aspirations.

 

That commitment extends throughout SRP. Reid has helped champion leadership-development opportunities including the Emerging Leaders Program and Next Level Leadership Development Program, while also supporting a culture of service that resulted in more than 5,000 ambassador volunteer hours in 2025. Her contributions also span initiatives including community blood drives, Shred Day, the SRP Museum, award-winning marketing efforts and other programs designed to strengthen both SRP and the communities it serves.

 

“I am honored and humbled at the same time to be the recipient of this award,” said Reid. “There were nine incredible nominees, each doing amazing work in our community, so I’m truly honored to be selected as this year’s recipient.”

 

Perhaps most fittingly, Reid is a leader who rarely seeks recognition for herself. Her nomination described her as someone who leads “quietly but powerfully,” investing in others, recognizing potential and creating opportunities for people to succeed.

 

For a leader who spends so much of her time helping others grow, succeed and step into the spotlight, this recognition offers a fitting opportunity to celebrate the impact Shana continues to make at SRP and throughout the community.

SRP Federal Credit Union Awarded Large Business of the Year by Greater Augusta Black Chamber of Commerce

Augusta, GA – The Greater Augusta Black Chamber of Commerce (GABCC) honored SRP Federal Credit Union with the 2026 Large Business of the Year Award, a testament to the credit union’s commitment to uplifting communities in the CSRA.

 

The Chamber announced the prestigious award at its 9th Anniversary Gala. Themed “The Time is Now,” the gala connected organizations across the Greater Augusta area for an evening of celebration. SRP executives and leaders represented the credit union and expressed gratitude at the event.

SRP Ambassadors Complete Banking and Finance Bootcamp at Augusta Technical College

Augusta, GA – Five SRP Federal Credit Union employees graduated from the October 2025 cohort of Augusta Technical College’s Banking & Finance Bootcamp, a 10-day continuing education course that equips students with foundational knowledge in the banking and finance industry.

 

Sponsored by SRP Federal Credit Union and other financial institutions, the bootcamp includes topics such as business math, banking basics, commercial banking, lending, business ethics, banking jobs and careers, and more.

 

SRP Ambassadors Patrice Bethea, Michael Clennett, Trevinte Dawson, Abel De Jesus, and Marley Sleister completed the program, where they enjoyed learning alongside professionals from fellow financial institutions.

 

Clennett, who works in SRP Federal Credit Union’s Community Development department, said the bootcamp exposed him to the vast potential for learning and growth within the finance sector.

 

“As the only non-banking SRP Ambassador at the bootcamp, it was great to meet and learn from others who work in the branches. They do incredible work supporting SRP members every day, and I gained valuable insight into their roles. I learned just as much from my colleagues as I did from the bootcamp itself,” said Clennett.

North Augusta, SC – SRP Federal Credit Union is thrilled to announce that Louisiana Wright Sanders, a dedicated volunteer member of the Board of Directors, has been honored with the 2024 Advancing Equity Award by the Carolinas Credit Union Foundation. This prestigious award recognizes individuals, organizations, or community partners who embody the credit union industry’s eighth Cooperative Principle of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, making proactive efforts to cultivate a sense of belonging for all.

 

The Advancing Equity Award celebrates those who implement fair and equitable policies, products, and initiatives that enhance the well-being of employees, members, and surrounding communities. Mrs. Wright Sanders’ commitment to advancing these principles has made a lasting impact, both within SRP Federal Credit Union and in the broader community.

 

A trailblazer with a remarkable personal story of determination and inspiration, Mrs. Wright Sanders has devoted her career to championing equitable access and opportunities. Elected to SRP’s Board of Directors in 1992, she made history as the first person of color to serve on the Board. From the start, Mrs. Wright Sanders committed to advocating for fairness and working tirelessly to ensure that every voice is heard and represented.

 

In addition to her work on the Board of Directors, Mrs. Wright Sanders has led several initiatives to foster equity within the credit union. She has strongly advocated for fair and equal pay for all SRP team members.  Shortly after being elected, she played a key role in securing funding to provide financial literacy programs for people of color, aiming to improve access to loan approvals. Furthermore, she has focused on continuing to diversify representation in leadership by actively recruiting individuals from underrepresented backgrounds to serve on boards and in leadership roles, ensuring more voices are included in decision-making processes.

 

Beyond her contributions to SRP, Mrs. Wright Sanders has long been an advocate for social justice and inclusivity in the community. She is a founding member of the African American Credit Union Coalition (AACUC), has served as the Second Vice President of NAACP’s Aiken Branch, and as the Secretary of the Internal Affairs Committee for the NAACP’s South Carolina Conference of Branches.  Currently, she serves on the University of South Carolina Aiken’s Inclusion Advisory Council, further demonstrating her unwavering commitment to creating more inclusive spaces for all.

This prestigious annual award recognizes outstanding local businesses for their involvement in both the Columbia County Chamber and the broader community.
